GRAND ARMY APARTMENT
Situated on Grand Army Plaza in the Prospect Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, this 1939 pre-war building is full of original Art Deco details that have been lovingly maintained. The era of the original architecture was used to inform many of the design decisions made when updating the home.
AN ART DECO DREAM IN THE HEART OF BROOKLYN
The original parquet wood floors sustained damage and were replaced with a more modern wide-plank white oak. The original arches were however kept and enhanced with a subtle two-toned paint treatment above and below the existing picture-rail molding.
Neutral colors, raw materials, and varying textures are layered throughout
Stainless SPlendor
Lighting was updated with vintage-inspired and period-appropriate fixtures, and a wall was added in the main living area that houses two eight-foot steel and glass pocket doors which create an office and additional guest bedroom. Finally, custom millwork was added to create a dedicated dining area near the entry. Designed and styled by Justin DiPiero, photos by Nick Glimenakis. Renovation work completed by CPMC Renovations, New York.
